With so many spectacular locations in Surrey, it can sometimes be difficult to decide where to head for a picnic! So today we have put together a guide to some of our favourite picnic spots across Surrey, which are perfect for al fresco dining with friends and family this summer.
Best Places to Picnic in Surrey:
Esher Common, KT10 9JQ – Clump car park, Portsmouth Road opposite Blackhills
The common stretches from Esher to Cobham, Oxshott to the West End and it offers a range of habitats to enjoy and explore. Make the most of the endless natural play opportunities, balance along the logs in the natural play area, build camps, throw pooh sticks in the River Rythe or simply hunt for bugs! A great place to spend a summer’s afternoon.
Abinger Hammer, RH5 6RX
I love coming here for a picnic with my children, it is such a pretty spot and armed with fishing nets, the stream provides hours of entertainment. There is plenty of space to kick a ball and fly a kite. There is also a play park and a tea room opposite where you can buy ice creams and fishing nets.
Newlands Corner, GU4 8SE
Newlands Corner is a lovely beauty spot that has some of the best views over the Surrey Hills, providing an ideal place to enjoy a picnic. There are plenty of woodlands to explore and play hide and seek. There is a café selling ice creams next to the car park.
Bushy Park, TW11 0EQ
This Park is famed for its mix of wonderful gardens, waterways, grasslands and roaming herds of red and fallow deer and is a lovely park to walk around and spot the birdlife. There is also a very good adventure playground located near the Diana Fountain with a large sandpit.
