The Loxwood Joust, Loxwood
This is a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience medieval mayhem at its best! The jousting itself comes alive with the thunder of hooves and the furious snorting of horses followed by the clashing of sword upon sword – it is a spectacle to behold.
I went last year with my 2 little ones and they soaked up every bit of the atmosphere. There is a kid’s area offering fun entertainment with a jester and they can even try their hand at sword fighting. There are learning zones and interactive talks around the festival as well as a stage with groups singing and playing medieval music. There are plenty of food and drink stalls providing the opportunity to sample some tasty medieval recipes. Beware of the Executioner wandering around, he’s rather daunting– he will tell you all about the crimes and punishment in the Middle Ages!
Save money with advanced tickets – Adult £12, Child (4-14) £6.
Gate prices: £15 and £7. Under 4’s go free. Tickets available here.
Dates: 5th, 6th, 12th & 13th August. 10am -6pm
Location: The Loxwood Meadow, WEST SUSSEX, RH14 0AL.
Wings and Wheels, Dunsfold
This is a really sensational event for the whole family, I went last year and had a great time. The famous favourites in the air and on the ground will blow your mind, whilst the attractions in the Arena will keep you entertained and buzzing with delight.
The 5 hour air displays include the Red Arrows, Eurofighter Typhoons, B-25 Mitchell Bombers, Spitfires and Hurricanes to name just a few favourites. Supercars and classic and vintage icons put on an awe-inspiring display of power and speed on the Top Gear track in a 2 hour auto spectacular. The ‘Wheels’ of the show include displays from a McLaren 12C, a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and a Huracan, a Pagani Zonda, a Ferrari California T, an Aston Martin Rapide and many more.
The excitement and anticipation doesn’t stop at the main displays as the 32 acre public arena is bursting with a huge variety of interactive attractions. The show arena boasts go-karts, kit-plane demonstrations, aviation and motoring simulators, military outlets and displays, static aircraft, a fairground and over 80 retail outlets selling a wide variety of products and gifts.
