The evenings are starting to draw in, there’s a slight chill in the air and I have succumbed to putting the heating on and even lit the fire the other evening – Summer seems like a distant memory! Surrey Game and Country Fair, Loseley Park, GU3 1HS

autumn events in surreyThe Surrey Game and Country Fair, held in the stunning setting of Loseley House near Guildford, is a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to experience rural life in Surrey. Activities include clay shooting, watching the amazing Warrenby gun dogs at work, falconry, terrier racing, vintage tractors, duck racing, tractor and horse ploughing, dog show and spectacular main ring entertainment. There will be of lots craft stalls (start your Christmas shopping early!), food and drink stalls, as well as lots of entertainment. This really is a fun day out.

The Surrey Hills Wood Fair, Birtley Estate, Guildford, GU5 0LE

surrey autumn fairs what to do in surrey this autumnThe Surrey Hills Wood Fair, now in its 8th year takes place at the Birtley Estate in Bramley on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October. Each year the fair gets bigger and better yet retains the traditional charm of a rural day out in the Surrey Hills for all the family.

This year you can discover a range of interesting craft stalls to browse and buy from as well as great local produce and a variety of refreshment stands including a beer tent! The Surrey and Sussex Coppice workers will be demonstrating their skills and there will be opportunities to buy a whole host of wood products. There will be a horse logging demonstration, horse and wagon rides, bug hunts and children’s activities including tree climbing and zip wires! what's on in surrey this autumn september october

Farnham Food Festival, Farnham, GU9 7PT

The Farnham Food and Drink Festival is one of the biggest in the South East of England, with over 100 stalls lining Castle Street there will be a variety of tasty treats and products to sample, cookery demonstrations and live music. Cranleigh Food Festival, Arts Centre, GU6 8AS

The Arts Centre will be hosting more than 24 food & drink stallholders, food demonstrations as well as music (Surrey Hills Ukelele Big Band, Changing Colours, Super Owls & more).  Food & Music will be happening all day at The Three Horseshoes pub, as well as street food & music at businesses along the High Street. This festival offers a great opportunity to sample local delights as well as supporting local businesses. Head along to the Crafty Brewing Company stand, and enjoy their delicious award-winning beers, they are a micro-brewery based in a barn on a farm in Dunsfold.

Autumn Walk – Winkworth Arboretum, Godalming, GU8 4AD

where to walk this autumn in surrey autumn walksThere is something pretty refreshing about Autumn, especially on a sunny day and a great excuse to put on a pair of wellies and have a kick around amongst the piles of leaves.

Winkworth Arboretum comes alive in Autumn accented with spectacular fiery colours of over 1,000 species of trees and shrubs. With a mixture of level walkways and challenging hills, there’s a route for everyone to explore. Pick up a map at the kiosk and follow the blue Access for All walk, the yellow Taste of Winkworth walk, or the red Challenge walk, depending on your preferences. Or just spend a few hours wandering wherever your fancy takes you – there’s enough to see and after your walk, why not treat yourself to a slice of cake and a cup of tea to warm you up!

There are certain dates where you can meet at the kiosk for a seasonal guided walk around the Arboretum, a great way to gain an insight to the arboretum. This event is free, but normal admission charges apply (unless you are a national trust member) for the venue (Adult: £7.60 Child: £3.80).
